Alister Kratt NSIP 2019: The Value of Design

History in the making: The value of design

History is ours to make. LDA Design’s Alister Kratt will argue that we have a responsibility to do the very best job we can, creating projects that leave a positive, lasting legacy in his address at this year’s Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP) Forum, organised by NIPA and Waterfront.

One year on from his TEDx talk, Infrastructure for the Ages, Alister will explore the need to place greater value on ‘design thinking’ to address the delivery of great infrastructure projects that connect with people and place and deliver a worthy legacy for the UK.

He will outline the role design plays in reducing the risks throughout the planning, consenting and delivery of major infrastructure projects, and highlight the value of design in the consultation process to encourage better and more positive outcomes.

Alister is a Board Director at LDA Design responsible for infrastructure and major projects. He has a substantial track record in the delivery of large-scale projects, leading the consultant team for the first approved NSIP: Rookery South RRF.

Alister has gone on to advise on some of the UK’s major infrastructure projects including: Sizewell C, Hinkley Point C, Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon, Euston and Heathrow. He believes in an integrated and interdisciplinary ‘whole project’ approach that smooths delivery, de-risks projects and builds a strong team culture.

A summary of Alister’s NSIP talk will be made available at a later date.
