Forming the centrepiece for the London 2012 Olympic Games, the 2.5km Olympic Park is the largest new urban park since the Victorian era and is a catalyst for regeneration in East London.

In 2008, LDA Design was appointed to prepare a masterplan for this landmark 21st century park, Europe's most significant landscape project for a generation.

The park will comprise three distinct areas. The southern park will provide a festival atmosphere with riverside gardens, event spaces and big screens for people to gather and watch the Games. A landscape of diverse ecology, including wetlands, woodlands and new habitats for species from kingfishers to otters, will be created in the north. Eton Manor will host the Paralympics before converting to a purpose built sports park post-2012.

In legacy, we have designed the park to be a living, green space combining a vibrant mix of recreational and educational activities in an attractive setting that offers links between the communities to the east and west. The transformation from neglected brownfield land into a vibrant, sustainable park for London will have a positive impact on the area for years to come.
