Green Infrastructure to improve Leeds economy
21/10/2009

The Leeds City Region will benefit from a green infrastructure strategy to help with plans for its regeneration and economy. Leeds City Region Partnership appointed LDA Design, a leading UK design and environment consultancy, to develop the strategy which will make an important contribution to the future success and growth of the city region.
The Partnership wants the strategy to support delivery of a high quality, resilient environment. Crucial to the success of the strategy will be the way it demonstrates the full economic value of green infrastructure and promotes future investment opportunities to the private, public and third sectors.
"Our recent green infrastructure work in the growth points and regeneration areas has given us a new insight into the challenges of proving the worth of this infrastructure in difficult economic times," said Neil Homer of LDA Design. "Leeds City Region faces these same challenges and we hope to help local decision makers determine how best to focus investment opportunities and shape future planning policy and development management practice."
The strategy will be prepared over the winter and will be presented to the Partnership's Leaders Board in spring 2010.
