New Wave of Investment for Hornsea Seafront
17/09/2009

LDA Design has been appointed by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, working closely with the Hornsea Area Renaissance Partnership (HARP), to develop a detailed investment plan to regenerate the Hornsea Seafront.
The plan will identify ways to improve the range and quality of visitor and resident facilities along the promenade. LDA Design, a leading UK design and environment consultancy who recently delivered the Scarborough Harbour scheme, will undertake interactive consultation work with the community, to ensure local residents' views are fully integrated into the process.
The Hornsea Masterplan, produced in 2007, provided a broad visualisation of how key areas of the town could be developed. This latest piece of work will take the ideas a stage further and identify how to make that vision a reality for the seafront area, building on the success of the award winning redevelopment of the Central Promenade.
"This is an exciting opportunity for Hornsea to develop its seafront and improve its offering to the thousands of visitors as well as local residents," said Bernie Foulkes, project leader and partner at LDA Design. "Our experience shows that this work will help the local economy to grow and provide a better quality of place for people to enjoy and we look forward to seeing the delivery of these schemes across the town."
Councillor Barbara Jefferson, chairman of the Hornsea Area Renaissance Partnership, said: "The Hornsea Area Renaissance Partnership welcomes East Riding of Yorkshire Council's investment into producing this plan. We are looking forward to working with LDA Design to create a detailed plan for our seafront, thereby ensuring the future of Hornsea'a regeneration."
The investment plan will be completed during October this year and will be available to read on both the council's and HARP's websites.
