Our specialist team of professionals is experienced in undertaking landscape, seascape, visual and cumulative assessment work for wind farms and has worked on over 60 wind projects. We have been involved with both Round 1 and Round 2 offshore schemes and have undertaken the seascape and visual assessment work for 8 of the 15 Round 2 sites.
Our offshore work has included the assessment of onshore grid connection routes and the assessment of cumulative seascape and visual effects. The demand for cumulative experience has increased as more potential offshore sites are identified to help meet government targets for producing 20% of the UK's electricity from renewable sources by 2020. The practice's wealth of experience resulted in the production of guidance for ETSU and the DTI, which proved a useful reference for others working in the sector, while our more recent methodology has been successfully tested at public inquiry.
A dedicated graphics team supports our wind energy development work, offering visualisations, 3d animation, wireframes and zone of theoretical (ZTV) plans, as well as GIS experts.
