Our specialist renewable energy team is experienced in site selection and wind farm design, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and undertaking landscape, seascape, visual and cumulative assessments and has worked on over 60 wind farms.

A Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) is a crucial element of the Environmental Statement (ES) that wind farm developers must submit as part of the application process. LVIA involves assessing the effects of a scheme upon landscape character, the visual environment and visual amenity. The assessmenet process includes the idenitfication of representative viewpoints from which the anticipated effects upon both the landscape and visual amenity are assessed.

Wireframes and photomontages of the proposed wind farm are prepared to illustrate the completed scheme from the agreed viewpoints adn to demonstrate the nature of the landscape adn visual amenity changes that are anticipated. Our onshore work includes advising on site suitability from a landscape and visual perspective as well as addressing complex cumulative issues where multiple developments either exist or are proposed. We have also worked on developments in, or close to, sensitive historic and designated landscapes, such as National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We also provide experienced expert witnesses for Public Inquiry. Our wind energy assessment and development work is supported by a dedicated graphics team offering visualisations, 3d animation, wireframes and zones of theoretical visibility (ZTV) plans, as well as GIS experts.
