We were joint masterplanners for this 173 home development on the northern fringes of Bude which provides a mix of affordable and open market homes incorporating passive design principles. Most of the houses, apartments and courtyard homes enjoy spectacular views over coast or countryside, with easy access to open space and community facilities. The masterplan and public realm follow Home Zone principles: shared surface streets giving equal priority to cars, pedestrians and cyclists. Architecture is crisp and contemporary, and cedar boarding and timber shakes reflect the Cornish vernacular. The scheme won the 2007 Richard Fielden Housing Design Award.
