Greenwich: A new community for a new millennium

In the 1990s, plans were announced to transform the heavily contaminated Greenwich peninsula. We developed the detail for much of Ralph Erskine’s environmentally-conscious masterplan.

‘Central Park’ connects to the new North Greenwich Jubilee Line station and includes a riverside ecology park. The scheme achieved EcoHomes ‘Excellent’ through low-energy building techniques and a CHP facility. We designed private communal spaces on podium decks; each one features seating, small, sculpted play facilities and year-round plant-life. School Square is a busier public space focused on Millennium Primary School, featuring seating, grass terraces and a new sculpture designed with the schoolchildren.
