Wharf Green: A new events space for Swindon

LDA Design was commissioned by the New Swindon Company and Swindon Borough Council to produce proposals for revitalising the town centre through its public spaces. The first project to be implemented from our study was Wharf Green where we took an under-performing, dark and unwelcoming space and transformed it into an elegant and flexible events space. Essential to this transformation was the timber screen which hides the northern elevation of a 1960s multi-storey car park. Other interventions included a re-modelling of the levels, new surfacing and new bespoke furniture and lighting.
