Dorset Coast Landscape and Seascape Character Assessment
The Dorset coast has some of the most dramatic scenery in southern England. Iconic geological features such as the great sea arch at Durdle Door, the bold sweep of Chesil Beach and the high cliffs at West Bay are particularly well known. Much of the Dorset coast is designated as the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site on account of its fascinating earth heritage, and its coastal and marine environments are widely regarded as some of the richest in the UK.
LDA Design led a ground-breaking assessment of the county’s coastal and marine areas and used this to set out the mechanisms needed to conserve and enhance this much cherished stretch of the UK coastline.
