The project, developed by C.Gen Killingholme Ltd, was promoted as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) through the DCO process. LDA Design was brought into the project by C.Gen to address concerns raised by the examining panel about the design of the project.
Based on an understanding of the operational process, and the innovative and undefined nature of certain aspects of the technology, LDA Design undertook supplementary architectural and design work, creating an Architectural Study which focussed on the project’s external appearance and included an improved set of design principles, diagrams, text, 3D modelling, precedents and materials.
The Examining Authority felt the scheme could be delivered within the defined parameters and met the requirements for ‘Good Design’ as required by the National Planning Statement EN1.
The project was granted its DCO in September 2014.
