St Vincent Plaza wins Scottish Award for Quality Planning
St Vincent Plaza scooped the Place Award category at last night’s prestigious Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning.
This striking scheme, located in the heart of Glasgow, is LDA Design’s first delivered public realm space in Scotland.
The judges said they awarded St Vincent Plaza because ‘All in all, the development added value all round’. ‘It pushed the place making agenda in an area which needed a new purpose on the edge of the city centre’ and ‘the freshly created public realm was sleek and modern’.

LDA Design worked for Glasgow City Council to design the public realm surrounding this contemporary £65m development by Abstract Group. The scheme cleverly metamorphoses from daytime into night, thanks to bespoke lighting that alters the place’s character. It is complemented by mixed ornamental tree and shrub planting in raised terraces to ensure seasonal variety and visual interest.
