Oxford Office

Urban Designer

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Urban Designer with initiative and design flare to join our Oxford team and contribute to some of the UK’s most exciting development and regeneration projects. You should ideally have 2 – 3 years’ experience of working in a design consultancy and be able to demonstrate experience of masterplanning and design at a range of scales, including town centre regeneration, urban extensions and smaller scale residential developments. An architectural background would be an advantage but is not essential.

Key requirements are:

  • A qualification in urban design/practical experience in urban design
  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment
  • A sound understanding of the UK Planning System
  • Excellent graphic and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the appetite to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A full UK driving license

EIA / Planning Consultant

LDA Design makes great places and helps to shape the world for the better. We want an individual who is self-motivated, commercially-minded and has a great appreciation of the quality of the environment. You should be able to combine creative thinking with robust attention to detail.

We are recruiting into our Oxford office, although responsibilities will be in support of all of LDA Design’s offices and will encompass a diverse portfolio of development projects. You should have or be eligible for either RTPI and/or IEMA membership with two-three years of post-qualification experience. London Office

Urban Designers – all grades

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic urban designers with passion, drive and design flare to join our London team to contribute to some of the UK’s most exciting development and regeneration projects.

The number of years you have worked is less important to us than an open, creative and entrepreneurial outlook. Junior candidates would find a collaborative environment to learn. Senior candidates (approximately 5-10 years’ experience) with the right skills would have exciting opportunities to help grow the business.

Key requirements for candidates at all grades are:

  • An open and inquisitive mind-set and a genuine interest in how places change and develop
  • Experience of working in private and/or public sector in a variety of contexts in the UK, including urban regeneration, urban extensions and new settlements.
  • Qualification in urban design/ practical experience in urban design and masterplanning at a range of scales with a sound understanding of the UK Planning System
  • Excellent graphic, written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience and/or a desire to develop project management and job winning skills would be beneficial
  • An architectural background would be beneficial but is not essential

Urban Designer/Architect

Graduate Landscape Architect

We are looking for Graduates who are committed to the creation of engaging, interesting and beautiful places. Your approach interests us as much as your skills.

You will have the following attributes:

  • Confident and collaborative, with the appetite to grow within a team;
  • Exceptional at designing at different scales, from a bespoke park bench to a new urban quarter;
  • Excellent visual communication skills, whether model making, hand sketches or Adobe Creative Suite;
  • A knowledge and understanding of 3-D design using Rhino or similar;
  • Good at creating compelling narrative, with excellent written and spoken English.

Glasgow Office

Urban Planner/Designer – Maternity Leave Cover – for a period of 9 months to 1 year

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Urban Designer who is driven, curious and passionate with initiative and design flare to join our Glasgow team to contribute to some of the UK’s most exciting projects.

Candidates should have approximately five years’ post qualification experience working in a design practice and be able to demonstrate experience of masterplanning and design at a range of scales, including development, regeneration and planning in Scotland.

Key requirements are:

  • Approximately five years’ experience working in private and/or public sector
  • Qualification in urban design/practical experience in urban design
  • Experience of masterplanning for residential and mixed use developments;
  • An understanding of current guidance and best practice
  • Commercial awareness and an ability to manage projects
  • Excellent graphic and communication skills
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills e.g use of Adobe Creative Suite or other graphical communication tools
  • Good at creating a compelling narrative, with excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience in preparing bids and tenders for a range of projects
  • Confident and collaborative, with experience in client interfacing roles
  • Self-motivated with the appetite to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A full UK driving licence
