LDA Design is making a bold move and expanding its operations, setting up new start-ups offices in Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester. All three cities have thriving local economies and are focal points for regional growth.
Colin Goodrum, LDA Design’s Managing Director, explains the decision:
“Despite continuing uncertainty around Brexit, we feel the time is right to expand our reach.
“It is five years since we last opened a new office, in Glasgow, and the team there is already responsible for transformational work in Scotland, including the redesign of Aberdeen’s Union Terrace Gardens and the regeneration of Sighthill, Glasgow’s major housing estate.”
Bristol represents one of the UK’s fastest growing city regions, with a rich seam of creative industries. It is the first of LDA Design’s new offices to open.
Cambridge is a world-renowned centre of excellence, highly regarded for innovation. It anchors the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, a growth corridor with a host of opportunities. Cambridge’s economy is predicted to outstrip all other UK cities in 2018 (Centre for Economics and Business Research, 2017). LDA Design projects there already include Cambridge Science Park and the New Museums Site in the centre.
Manchester is an obvious location choice for a third new office: it is a key hub for the UK Government as it cements its Northern Powerhouse plans. A rise in tech and media is helping to further enhance the city’s standing. Greater Manchester is one of a quartet of national ‘green pioneers’, part of the Government’s new 25-year environment plan.
LDA Design will offer a range of services in Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester, including landscape architecture, masterplanning and urban design, ecology, EIA, and town and environmental planning, and will be looking to recruit from local talent pools.
