Littlehampton comes out on top at South East RTPI awards

Littlehampton wins RTPI award for Innovative Delivery of Infrastructure

“This is a really effective scheme, one that not only better protects the people of Littlehampton but also better connects the town to a greatly improved waterfront.”
Sophie Thompson, Director, LDA Design

LDA Design’s flood defence scheme in Littlehampton in west Sussex has won further recognition from the Royal Town Planning Institute, this time picking up a South East award for Excellence in the Innovative Delivery of Infrastructure.

The multi-award winning project demonstrates how the UK’s need for new and enhanced infrastructure can lead to great place-making. The scheme, which enhances flood defences along the east bank of the River Arun, includes welcoming promenades at differing levels, terraced seating and lovely coastal planting.

“It’s great to see Littlehampton earn further recognition from the RTPI,” commented LDA Design director, Sophie Thompson.

“This is a relatively modest and yet really effective scheme, one that not only better protects the people of Littlehampton but also better connects the town to a greatly improved waterfront.”
