New Rugby success with Homes England

“We’re at a pivotal point in the types of places we create. We’ll be responding to local and global drivers to ensure good design principles are at the heart of this development so that it becomes a healthy, inclusive, and distinctive place to live.”

Homes England has appointed Atkins, part of the SNC-Lavalin Group, LDA Design, and Levitt Bernstein to deliver planning and design services for a sustainable new development for Warwickshire. The project is one of the largest for the government agency in the region.

The scheme will contribute 2,000 new homes, including affordable, to meet housing need as part of the larger South West Rugby Urban Extension. It will also provide inclusive, nature-rich green spaces and play areas; community uses; healthcare; new schools; retail and improved infrastructure that supports the wider neighbourhood.

The project team aim to enhance local ecology, with sustainable design principles and biodiversity net gain embedded in their approach so that local residents benefit from living active lives that are close to nature and so that impacts are limited.

LDA Design’s role includes masterplanning, LVIA and community engagement. Rebecca Frost, project lead for LDA Design, said; “This is a fantastic opportunity to create somewhere special for South West Rugby.

“We’re at a pivotal point in the types of places we create – they have to be low carbon and designed with people and planet in mind. We’ll be responding to local and global drivers to ensure good design principles are at the heart of this development so that it becomes a healthy, inclusive, and distinctive place to live.”
