Mark Williams
Director
I specialise in the masterplanning and visioning of projects at all scales; from urban extensions and new towns, to regeneration projects and port terminals. What I particularly enjoy is the challenge of finding simple and creative solutions to the complex problems encountered throughout the development process.
Since joining in 2006 I have been involved in securing planning consents for over 5,000 new homes and my approach places collaboration at its core, building strong relationships and enthusiasm for a shared set of aspirations with the ultimate goal being the creation of great places that all involved can be proud of.
For me, the creative process always starts with developing a compelling vision for a place. Many visions never happen, but I believe there are no great places created that didn’t start with a vision.
Spare time is currently spent enjoying being a father to my new born daughter.
Q&A
The early morning dog walk through Cookham Village to the River Thames. The local landmarks captured in Sir Stanley Spencer’s paintings still provide a backdrop for village life today, and I love this stretch of river that inspired Kenneth Grahame to write The Wind in the Willows.
Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm. A great lesson in placemaking with landscape and built form brought together intuitively to put people in touch with nature.
The North Bank at Emirates Stadium whilst watching my beloved Arsenal*
