Martin Herbert
Director

I am Head of Planning at LDA Design with 40 years’ experience as a chartered town planner. I spent the early days of my career in local government before moving on to work in multi-disciplinary design and environmental practices.
I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects, many at strategic scale such as garden communities, urban extensions, national strategic infrastructure projects, and commercial/mixed use. More recently, I’ve focused on promoting land for development through the local plan process including presenting at Examinations in Public.
It’s an exciting time to be at LDA Design as we further expand and strengthen our town planning service, not only as standalone but as part of our integrated masterplanning, landscape design and environmental consultancy. I enjoy working with clients to set the overall development strategy, of which planning is only a part – albeit a vital one. Identifying land with development potential and taking it to clients means I’m often involved from day one.
To relax, I like to go to rock concerts and festivals, and to imagine that one day Tottenham will play football consistently enough to actually win something.

The Freedom Trail in Boston. So much history and finishing with a spectacular view of the city.
Eastwards down the River Thames from Hungerford Bridge or, for sheer other-worldliness, from the top of the dunes at Sossusvlei in Namibia.
