Sian Jones
Principal Consultant
I started life as an interior designer but an interest in the wider context of buildings and the interplay between interior and exterior space (and a dislike of being indoors) led me to retrain as a landscape architect. After my PGDip, I worked in Manchester on projects including Manchester airport, and later in Bath on detail design work for the University, residential masterplans and residential public realm in Singapore.
I joined LDA in 2014 and have been involved in the concept and detail design of small-scale urban and commercial spaces such as the Westgate Shopping centre roof terrace, One Nine Elms residential and hotel development, and the New Museums Site, Cambridge. I have also worked on larger residential mixed-use masterplans like Peartree, focusing on green infrastructure and landscape strategies.
In my spare time I love to be on a yoga mat or outdoors, ideally combining camping, live music, walking and wild swimming.
Q&A
More small independents being able to afford to enliven it (particularly coffee independents).
I love the Jardi Botanic in Barcelona - a dynamic combination of journey and connection to the city, intimate and panoramic vistas and views, and elegant planting design and plant conservation. It is also a great regeneration project on a former landfill site.
