As a landscape design consultant, I have worked at LDA Design on town and city centre public realm and masterplanning, and taken projects from concept to fruition. I have the chance to work on a vast range of projects of differing scales, and I think the potential of a place is unlocked through really understanding the constraints.
As a dad, I like to encourage my children to experience natural beauty and form an affinity with nature; this has enhanced my interest in the protection and enhancement of special landscapes and townscapes.
Q&A
Porthcurno Beach in Cornwall. It feels almost mythological! There’s something about the colours in the dark granite cliffs, the golden sand and the turquoise sea. Not to mention the wildlife including the seals (or mermaids as my daughter calls them).
Bold and daring uses of colour, material and form. The greatest pieces of design are those that provide unexpected delight and offer a unique response.
Listening – because everyone is a designer, to some extent. I interpret and use all the stakeholders’ early thoughts to mould the concept and win support.
